Pisces is the mystical, fuzz-folk project of Los Angeles based musician Sarah Negahdari, who perhaps is best known as the dynamic singer and lead guitarist of the indie rock band Happy Hollows.
With Pisces, Negahdari steps into a world of layered soundscapes, where the boundaries between folk and experimental lo-fi blur into a dreamlike and ethereal musical experience. Pisces reimagines the textured and eclectic sounds reminiscent of artists like Neutral Milk Hotel, while channeling the acoustic warmth and intimacy of quintessential folk legends like Cat Stevens, Nick Drake, Sufjan Stevens and Donovan.
Pisces’ deep connection to the mystical and natural world can be traced back to her upbringing in Northern California, where she grew up surrounded by the towering redwood trees. This upbringing not only shaped her worldview but also deeply influenced her artistic vision. After moving down to Los Angeles, Pisces found herself drawn to the psychedelic folk music of the 1960's and 1970s. The free-spirited, experimental ethos of that era resonated passionately with her, and naturally influencing the development of Pisces' sound. In Pisces, Sarah Negahdari has created a project that is both authentically personal and outwardly expansive, tapping into the supernatural to craft a sound that is both timeless and entirely her own.
